si GMA talaga!

natawa ako when i read somewhere how proud the philippine president, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, was upon learning that the peso has strengthened against the US dollar. this, she claimed, was because the philippine economy got stronger during the years.

what bullshit!

i thought she's an economist - didn't she know that this phenomenon is simply because the US economy is now very low and suffering - that this is the result of Bush's misplaced economic priorities when he waged war on Iraq? get real madame president! the philippine peso is, and will always follow the US dollar's suit - and that is going down the drain unless you do something drastic.

i find it so irritating the way she's campaigning around Europe for it to ease restrictions for filipino migrant workers - seems like GMA's only solution to the economic misery of the philippines is to send out more and more migrant workers abroad. why can't she improve things better in the philippines instead of uprooting the family oriented filipinos and send them away? why not work on the country's natural resources? the philippines receives a lot of foreign financial aids from rich countries - where does that go? when we exported our "know-how" to our neighbouring countries, we helped build their nations. why can't we nurture that "know-how" in our own country and benefit from it? problem with budget allocations? i sometimes find that excuse hard to believe. there should be enough money - most of it is not even from the government but from NGOs - JUST GIVE IT AND USE IT FOR ITS PURPOSE INTENTED! then, and maybe then, life for an average filipino may be easier.

needless to say, how do you really serve your public madame president?

philippines, my philippines - what has happened to you?

I felt betrayed. I felt numbed. I feel so angry. I feel insulted.

These are just some of my sentiments when I read about the executive clemency as granted by current Philippines President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, to Joseph Estrada. I can’t help but think that all the court hearings and proceedings that have transpired was nothing but all show. What kind of message does this send across the globe? To all other sovereign nations that kept close track of the proceedings of this one-of-a-kind case .... a case that finally showed people all over the world that this time around the political scene in the Philippines has changed for the better - imagine, prosecuting the ousted President of the Philippines!

And then, this happened ... (read link)

Oh, Philippines, my Philippines - what's gotten into you? When will you ever put yourself on global news on a better light? Nowadays, very little things of good nature are being said about the Philippines and the Filipinos - now, that's very sad. Why do you keep embarassing yourself internationally? Why the bickering among the Filipino nationals, whether in the Philippines or abroad? And now, this! Shame, shame, shame ....

on manny pacquiao ...

i chanced on the article below about manny pacquiao, and it sure irritated me ... no, not because i agree with the writer but because i cannot understand the need for filipinos to put such an ordinary man on a pedestal, short of worshiping him in his grand days and then criticise him when he doesn't serve his purpose to the chosen few ...

http://www.inquirer.net/specialfeatures/ThePacquiaoFiles/view.php?db=1&article=20071022-95894

i believe this guy didn't ask to be the average filipinos' local hero. the politicians made him that - in the absence of better things to do. this is typical of what is sometimes wrong with the filipinos - "putting their eggs on the wrong basket" in its every sense ...

manny pacquiao is his own person - with or wothout the adulation of the filipino people! he achieved most of his accomplishments by doing what he do best and these politicians were the ones who simply had a free ride in terms of publicity and name recall for the filipino public. the philippines wouldn't need a hero in the person of manny pacquiao or the OFWs if the philippine government is doing their job properly.

i'd say, leave the guy alone! concentrate on improving the economy of the philippines instead of bidding your precious time over so little things as manny's "responsibility" and "loyalty" to those who put him in the pedestal. your accord of appreciation of his achievements should come voluntarily without any expectation of a "pay back" from your hero. he did not ask for you to make a bonanza of each of his win! he did not ask to be awarded any medal of honour or recognition for his achievements. with or without the local funfare, manny is still a winner in the book of international boxing due to his own merits!

where's your head, malu fernandez?

i got this copy of an open letter addressed to a certain MALU FERNANDEZ ... boy, was i enraged when i read this "writer's" article (see links) as published in June 2007.

who do you think you are, Malu Fernandez? someone ought to shake your booties and bring you down to your senses - if you have one ...

****

OPEN LETTER TO MALU FERNANDEZ

Now I'm not one to openly court controversy, but this lady has got my knickers in a twist.

I'm referencing to an article I found on Bryanboy.com which can read here:

Dear Malu Fernandez,

FIRST OF ALL, How nouveau riche can one get? Did you marry rich? Did you suddenly come in to money? Your blatant displays of your 'luxuries' and 'wealth' and your comfort with using the word 'elitist' to describe yourself alongside the fact that you had to reference to 'politicians in your family' show that even if you did come from money, you certainly have no class. You also seem to need to name-drop in every article that you write.

It really gets to me that you should complain about the coach seats on your Emirates flight. Honey, they aint small... YOU'RE FAT. Spare yourself some doughnuts and maybe your travels will be more comfortable... coach, or not. MOST IMPORTANTLY. That you would put down OFW's (Overseas Filipino Workers) is really DISGUSTING. It makes you sound more vile than what you described as the scent of their 'AXE and Charlie cologne' while your 'Jo Malone melted into thin air'. Honey, without that perfume, you want to know what you smell like? Like a fat Filipino woman. The smell is probably more putrid than the smell of those OFW's. Cause they sweat honest, hard-working sweat. The kind of sweat that keeps the Filipino economy going. They're fucking brave. They've seen more than you, felt more than you, and fought more than you. You're just a coddled fat Filipino woman, under all of that cologne, and that branded clothing that makes you feel more important than them. It sounds to me like you get to fly Business Class when you travel for work, but when you had to pay for your own travels, coach was more affordable. You tried to hide this by grandiose references to you perfume and your designer wear, didn't you? Tsk tsk...

You made some mention of having 17kg's of make-up in your hand-carry. All the make-up and adornments in the world can't hide how ugly you are inside. You aint that good-looking either, hon. Go to the gym, eat some fruits. You wrote that you wanted to slit your wrists because you were stuck in coach with all the OFW's. I am MOVED every time I am on a flight with OFW's. I am reminded of their resilience. Of how hard they work, and how they keep the Philippines going. The economy relies on their bravery. You should have slit your wrists, hon. And you are going to hell if you don't change the way you think. Think of sitting in coach, imagining your personal hell as a personal foreshadowing.

I have lived in the Philippines, and I have also traveled the world. I've probably been to as many if not more places than you, seen more things than you, so maybe despite all of this money you seem to need to brandish and the places you have been to, you're just an ignorant. This coming from a 20 year old girl.

You're act isn't classy. You're not pretentious. You're just some stupid woman, living in a third world country, thinking that because you jetted off to Greece and you wear Jo Malone perfume, you are suddenly something.

Take this from someone with the same 'socio-economic background' as you, bitch.

What a pitiful excuse. I also happen to read things 'thicker than magazines', I go to University in London where I will finish with an Honors Bachelors Degree in May. I have a 1 year Marketing Economics degree from a business school in Oslo, and I graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma at age 17, if you were wondering. So no fucking excuses.

You could do so much more than you think, yet you choose to act like a proper twat. The kind of twat that people with some brains laugh at, the world over. Think of this as some more exposure.

I am ashamed of people like you.

OFW'S all over the world, working their tits off, deserve a public apology.

lawbreakers amongst lawmakers?

this particular article caught my eye ....

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/nation/view_article.php?article_id=83677

what an irony that the very president of the philippines could turn a blind eye to what's happening in her own backyard .... felons and lawbreakers in her midst?

god help the philippines!

philippines, my philippines ...

everything, and aything about the philippines is always of interest to me. it has a very special place in my heart, however corny that may sound to you. i grew up with its politics - it's a topic dear to me and my family ... we would discuss, argue, cuss and fight to make a standpoint - day in, day out. my family, relatives and friends are very much involved in politics - and some even play a part in the government of the philippines, past and present. i have seen the good and evil part of politics - up close. in the end, i came up with a very sad conclusion that "good things that came along as produced and presented for the benefit of the filipino people had actually been a product of an evil chain of acts and events". but hey, it was considered as a norm in the philippines and anywhere else ... or is it? really? people would see the "monument", but never knew the ways and hows it came to life ... very few cared, and they are the ones who are troubled. troubled because they feel that it's wrong and not fair to the hardworking juan dela cruz? or troubled not to be one of those who got a piece of "cake"? who knows? not i ... but i sure would want to know.

though living abroad, i see to it that i keep in touch in my own little way. i simply cannot let go. philippines will always be "my philippines" ... there are a lot of things i miss about the philippines - summing it up translates to sun, sea and sands. nowhere in the world can one enjoy these as in the philippines - and i bet my son would agree.

senator miriam defensor-santiago

i still can't believe how this gal got herself elected to such an office. i'd say that her "antics" as CID chief really paid off - what people don't know is that it was her strategic ploy for name recall as she was, already at that time, planning to seek higher office.

reading the article below is no surprise to me ... but watch out folks, think if this gal would try to gun for an even higher office - say presidency of the philippines? heavens forbid!

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/inquirerheadlines/nation/view_article.php?article_id=77486

whatever miriam wants, miriam gets! well, at least that is how people in her circles claim her to be ... nay, if there truly is god - please help the filipino people in the next elections.

the NAIA3 - fiasco

i have heard about this NAIA3-fiasco for a good many years now. this airport facility, said to be a "state-of-the-art"-undertaking just sits in its prime location and not being used since it was completed. why? rumours has it that this was because the philippine government could not pay its constructors in full for their contracts and services. in doing so, any project turn-over is almost impossible - adding to that, the people who worked hard on completing this project were, up to this date, not paid at all. where did all the money allocated for NAIA3's construction and completion went? possibly to the politicians and other government bigwigs involved in the project? well, you guess is just as good as mine ...

next steps

ok ... i give up! you guys win - so, here's a blog where we can take up subjects anything under the sun about our beloved philippines - its beauty, curse and imperfections. in some way, you were right in saying that when we are upset over something, we need to channel our frustrations and anger somewhere, somehow - consider this as your outlet in letting off your angry steams .... feed me!
